Eastport – Robert John Patterson, 71, passed away Saturday, March 13, 2010 at his home in Eastport. Robert was born in Calais on October 20, 1938, son of the late Robert and Melvenia (Stanhope) Patterson. After attending the Robbinston area schools, he began his career in the local sardine factories as a machinist. On April 7, 1956 he married Alice Anderson. Robert enjoyed watching NASCAR, puzzles and watching the deer in Eastport. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife Alice Patterson on May 28, 2000; a sister Gayle Bulmer; brother Sheldon Patterson; and a niece Elaine Bulmer. Surviving are his three children, Stephen Patterson and his wife Kathy of Cushing, William Patterson and his wife Joyce of Tenants Harbor, and Sonya Stevens and her husband Tate of Perry; two sisters, Lenora Denson and her husband Keith of Bridgeport, WA, and Meda Gilbert of Rockland; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held 2:00PM, Saturday, March 27th at the Hillside Cemetery in Eastport.
