Obituary for Ada Mae Townsend

Eastport – Ada Mae Townsend, 82, died Friday, September 14, 2007 at the Eastport Memorial Nursing Home with her family by her side. Ada was born in Brooks on February 6, 1925, daughter of the late Millard and Bertha (Ryan) Gibbs. She was a member of the North Baptist Bible Church in Eastport and enjoyed playing bingo, picking blackberries and crocheting. Besides her parents, Ada was predeceased by a daughter, Helen Hubbard; five brothers, Harold, Eddie, Ervin, Marshall and Freeman Gibbs; and five sisters, Francis Jameson, Shirley Tibbetts, Mavis Bennett, Isabelle Gibbs and Emma Gibbs. Surviving are six children, Roger and Kay Penney of Winslow, Alton Penney of Vasselboro, Dale Penney of Vasselboro, Linda Bucklan of Bangor, Andrea Curtis of Robbinston and Sandra Seeley and husband Junior of Eastport; two sisters, Glenice McIntyre of Searsport and Marian Veino and husband Vernon of Newburgh; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 Monday at Mays Funeral Home – Flagg Chapel, 72 High St., Eastport. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with Pastor Sheldon Keezer officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.
