Edmunds – Alice E. (Hallowell) Dudley, 82, died February 27, 2007 at a Calais nursing home after a long illness. She was born in South Thomaston, April 19, 1924, the daughter of Alton and Rachel (Benner) Hallowell. Alice enjoyed knitting, braiding rugs, and playing Bingo in her spare time. Alice worked in local sardine factories, wreath shops, and in later years, was bookkeeper at Hallowell’s Lumber, that was owned and operated by her father. She was predeceased by her husband, Harlan Dudley, her parents, and her brother John. Survivors include her daughters, Priscilla Beedy of Wilton and Rene Lincoln and husband Gary of Edmunds; five granddaughters; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Herbert Hallowell of Edmunds and Baileyville, and Richard Hallowell of Edmunds; and three sisters-in-laws. Alice also leaves behind a very special cousin, Calista Longhurst of Texas; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. At Alice’s request, there will be no funeral service.
