Lubec – Alice L. Maker, 93, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at Calais Regional Hospital. Alice was the daughter of the late Frederick Charles and Mary (Roberts) Lovatt. She was born in Meter, VA on April 20, 1915. Alice was a member and Deaconess of the Lubec Congregational Christian Church and served as Church Clerk for 15 years. She served as Treasurer of the Ladies Social Union and was Past Matron and Treasurer of Quoddy Light Chapter #94 Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the Lubec Women’s Club where she also served as treasurer. Alice retired in 1979 from her job as Secretary to the Superintendent of Schools of M.S.A.D. #19 with 27 years in that position. Surviving are her son, Geoffrey R. Maker and his wife Joyce of Calais; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Michaud and husband Rick of Milford, NH; a grandson, Rand Maker and his companion Melissa Chisholm of Bristol; three great-grandchildren, Alexandre and Ian Michaud and Jacob Sidney Maker; a sister-in-law, Gisela Lovatt of Tuftonboro, NH; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Alice was predeceased by her husband of 71 years, Sidney Maker; an infant daughter; two sisters, Ethel Lovatt and Mildred Small; and two brothers, Roger and Richard Lovatt.
