Presque Isle & Calais – Alice E. Murdock, 103, died Saturday, June 23, 2007 at her home in Presque Isle. Alice was born in Farmingdale, daughter of the late Ralph and Edith (Newell) Manson. She was employed as a third grade teacher for Topsham and Calais public schools for over 40 years. Alice was very active with the Calais Regional Hospital until her mid 90’s. She was a member of Orion Chapter #45 Order of Eastern Star, Maine Teachers Assoc., and the First Congregational Church in Calais. Alice was predeceased by her husband William N. Murdock; her daughter, Edith Malloch; her son Ralph M. Rhoades; a sister, Irene Allen and a brother, George Manson. Surviving are four grandchildren, Mary Lynn Malloch of Lewes, DE, Alice Marie Malloch of Presque Isle, Ralph W. Rhoades of Cleburne, TX, and Pamela Rhoades of Austin, TX; one great-grandson, Buddy Rhoades of MD; a son-in-law, Gerald Malloch of Presque Isle; a niece, Jane Rogers of Myerstown, PA; and several cousins. Per Alice’s request, a private graveside service will be held at a later date in Red Beach Cemetery, Calais. In lieu of flowers, donations in Alice’s memory may be made to the First Congregational Church, 21 Calais Ave., Calais, ME 04619. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais.
