Alma I. Green passed away in her sleep on Monday, August 12, 2024. She has been dealing with declining health over the past several years with the last year being the hardest. Alma was born in Portland, Maine, on July 20, 1954, daughter of James and Marion (Townsend) Seeley.
She spent most of her life in Washington County, growing up in Perry, Maine and then spending the last of her adult years in Eastport. She was passionate about so many things, with family being first. She took considerable pride in her accomplishments over the years. She loved without judgement and gave everyone the benefit of doubt. Despite having a less-than-ideal upbringing, she persevered and made the absolute best of all situations. She supported those that she loved in the best way that she could.
After family, her love of food, music, Boston Celtics, Nascar, and reading was undeniable. She was a storyteller and loved to hear and share “good” gossip. She spoke fondly of all the kids that she had cared for over the years – many of her nieces and nephews and all her grandchildren until they were old enough to watch themselves. One of her favorite things to do was cross stitch. She took great pride in her creations and freely donated pillowcases and various other things whenever she had the opportunity.
She was predeceased by her parents, James and Marion Seeley, sister Ellen Rose and brother Jim. She is survived by her son, Richard Green (Sarah) and daughter, Brenda Voisine (Eric), three grandchildren, Keisha, Karina (Olivia), and Dylan, one great grandson, Stephen, and two sisters Anna (Gerald) and Rama.
Alma was adamant about not having a service and no flowers in her memory. The family plans to respect her wishes. You can fondly remember her and celebrate her life when you hear one of her favorite songs – anything classic rock, smell fresh cut grass or clam flats at low tide (all joking aside – one of her favorite things) and burnt hotdogs.
In keeping with Alma’s wishes, there will be no services. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home.
