Baileyville – Althea Mae McLaughlin, 86, passed away Saturday, December 4, 2010 at Atlantic Rehab & Nursing Center in Calais. Althea was born in Forrest Station, ME on February 5, 1924, daughter of the late Uriah and Mary (McIver) Howland. On February 19, 1944, she married George McLaughlin in Princeton. Althea enjoyed sewing, crafts, traveling and camping with her family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband George McLaughlin Sr.; four brothers, Harold, Uriah, Kenneth and Lloyd; and one sister Dorothy. Surviving are her three children, George McLaughlin Jr. and his wife Linda of Calais, James McLaughlin and his wife Vicki of Baileyville, and Laurie McLaughlin of Colorado; six grandchildren, Melinda, David and his wife Hanna, Jamie and his wife Stacy, Jeff and his wife Sarah, Chad and John; eight much loved great-grandchildren; two sisters Eugenia Lawless of Princeton and Ruth Nichol of Mass.; one brother Bruce Howland and his wife Evelyn of Calais; four special sisters-in-law, Ethel, Rita, Kay and Arlene; and many niece and nephews. A celebration of Althea’s life will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St. Calais. Burial will take place in Woodland Cemetery, Baileyville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Althea’s memory to the Frank N. Beckett Center, PO Box 384, Calais, ME 04619.
