Obituary for Alvin W. James

Princeton – Alvin William James, 71, passed away Friday, November 13, 2015 at a Bangor hospital with his family by his side. Alvin was born in Princeton on October 6, 1944, son of the late Cash and Mary (MacKenzie) James. He attended school in Princeton and on April 3, 1965, he married Susan Corbett. Together they moved to Connecticut where Alvin worked for Pratt & Whitney. Eventually they returned to Princeton and he worked for Quoddy Lumber, Woodland Stud Mill, and finally with Woodland Pallet until his retirement. Alvin enjoyed gardening and most especially, spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Susan; a son, Scott James; half-sister Muriel Smith; and half-brothers, Clarence, Donald, and Stephen. Surviving are his three children, Darren James and wife Trudy of Princeton, Karen Simpson of Calais, and Dawn James of Bangor; a daughter-in-law, Maureen James of Princeton; 13 grandchildren, Matthew, Meagan, Kaitlyn, Nicholas, Chad, Christopher, Nathan, Devon, Andrew, Benjamin, Jessica, Kristina, and Robbie; five great-grandchildren, Aaliyah, Rylan, MacKenzie, Blake, and Ethan; sisters Charlotte Melanson and husband Herbert, Beulah Lane and husband John, Mary James, and Arlene Roussel and husband Imon, all of Princeton; half-brother, Franklin James and wife Grace of San Antonio, TX; a special mother-in-law, Phyllis Davis of Bangor; sisters-in-law, Brenda Corbett and Carolyn Bennett; brother-in-law, Lloyd Corbett and wife Gloria; and his faithful canine companion, Daisy.

In keeping with Alvin’s wishes, there will be no services. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
