Plantation 21 – Andrew J. Cunningham, 86, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, March 20, 2009 at Calais Regional Hospital. Andrew was born in San Jose, CA on October 1, 1922, son of the late Jonathan and Lottie (Gunther) Cunningham. Andrew was proud to have played right tackle for the San Francisco 49ers in 1946. He worked for many years as a lineman for Pacific Gas & Electric, then later as a consultant for numerous electrical companies. Andrew was a non-denominational ordained minister and was a member of the Princeton Congregational Church and also attended the Bethel Chapel in Talmadge. He enjoyed reading and discussing the bible, gardening, car rides and the outdoors. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Maurice Polk Sr. Surviving are his loving wife, Elsie (Laughton) Cunningham; eleven grandchildren, Carmen Small and her husband George of Robbinston, M. Andrew Polk and his wife Patricia of White House, TN, Lorrie Johnson of Baileyville, Philip Polk and his wife Cindy of Princeton, Shelly Childress and her husband Vernon of Robbinston, Michael Polk of Baileyville, Darlene Ward and her husband Lee of VA, Maurice Polk Jr. and his wife Addie of Baring, Zelda McLain of Minto, N.B., Angela Nesbitt and her husband Raymond of Baileyville, and Byron Polk and his wife Kim of Benedicta; numerous great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Reid Camic and his wife Carol of Brunswick; and a sister-in-law, Agnes Drost and her husband Perry of Parsonsfield.
