It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Anthony Gordon “Tony” Colarusso, cherished husband, brother, and friend, who departed this life on November 5, 2024, at the age of 60, surrounded by the warmth of his loving family at Calais Community Hospital.
Born on September 23, 1964, in Calais, Tony was the beloved son of Anthony Colarusso and Norma (McGlaflin) Waycott. After completing his education at Woodland High School in Baileyville, he embarked on a journey that would lead him from Maine to Florida, where he began his career in maintenance. The call of family brought him back to Boston to care for his ailing father, where he thrived as a Project Manager at Logan International Airport, showcasing his remarkable talents and dedication.
In Boston, fate smiled upon Tony when he encountered Louise Samuel, the love of his life. Their union in marriage in 2003 was a testament to their deep bond and shared dreams. Together, they moved to Florida in 2004, where Tony continued to excel professionally, managing maintenance for several apartment complexes. In a poignant turn of life, the couple returned to Calais in 2021, granting Tony the opportunity to realize a long-held dream: to own his own gun shop, Lou’s Corp.
Tony’s passions extended beyond his professional endeavors. A proud member of the N.R.A. and the Treeing Walker Coonhound Club, he devoted time and effort to animal welfare, co-founding a dog rescue with Louise in Florida. His love for animals, especially dogs, was a defining aspect of his life. Tony relished the joys of travel, sampling diverse cuisines from around the world, and delving into the rich tapestry of history.
He now joins those who predeceased him, including his father Anthony, his mother Norma Waycott and her husband Melvin, his brother Mike Bryant, and his canine companions, Nickky, Bonzo, Gordie, and Gizmo. He is survived by his devoted wife Louise Colarusso; his sister Laura Hunt and her husband Warren of Baileyville; brothers Dennis Bryant and his wife Libby of Meddybemps and Florida, and Larry Colarusso of Charlotte; along with a niece Kelly, nephews Stephen, Adam, and Jeffrey; and a cherished circle of friends—Cindy, Jessie, Joanne, Adrianne, Billy, Sean, Carol, Christine, Alex, and Meritza. His home is further graced by the companionship of his dogs Boone, Bandit, and Rosco.
As we celebrate the life of Tony Colarusso, we remember him as a man of great character, kindness, and love. His spirit will forever reside in the hearts of those who knew him, as we cherish the memories of his laughter, his wisdom, and his unwavering devotion to family and friends.
