Anthony Stanley

Pleasant Point – Anthony Joseph Stanley Sr., 57, died Thursday, March 09, 2006 at a Calais hospital. Anthony was born in Pleasant Point, September 27, 1948, son of the late Peter and Helen (Bailey) Stanley. He made a living digging clams, raking blueberries, and making Native American Ash baskets. Anthony was a Native American activist and enjoyed traveling and the outdoors. He was predeceased by a sister, Eleanor Beal; and three brothers, Andrew Bailey and George and Eugene Stanley. Surviving are his two children, Anthony J. Stanley Jr. and Jacob Stanley; a sister, Ursula Newell and husband Timothy; a brother, Donald Stanley; two nephews, Ryan Newell and Reginald Stanley; and a niece Shirley Mitchell, all of Pleasant Point. Friends may call at his residence on Passamaquoddy Drive, Pleasant Point, until 9 a.m. Saturday, March 11. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Anne’s Church, Pleasant Point. Arrangements by Flagg Funeral Home, Eastport.
