Baileyville – Arnold “Diz” E. Fountain, 79, died unexpectedly Saturday, December 16, 2006 at his home. Diz was born in Calais, July 8, 1927, son of the late Frank and Delora (Reynolds) Fountain. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Navy. Diz married Betty L. Cameron on August 8, 1959 in Milltown, N.B. He was employed as a Plant Electrical Engineer for Slater Steel in Fort Wayne, Indiana, for over 46 years. He took electrical engineering courses through Purdue University. Diz was a member of People’s United Methodist Church in Baileyville where he videoed the church service every week. Diz was a member of the Ameateur Radio Club, St. Croix Country Club, William T. Wren Post #23 American Legion, and since he was a glider pilot, he was a member of the Soaring Society of America. He enjoyed photography, R.C. Airplanes, golfing, computers, and playing pool. Besides his parents, Diz was predeceased by a sister, Eva Taylor, and a brother, Gerald Fountain. Surviving are his loving wife of over 47 years, Betty L. Fountain; his brother, Steadman Fountain and wife Helen of Lincolnville; a sister-in-law, Virginia Armstrong of St. Stephen; a special Goddaughter, Heather Sprague; and many nieces and nephews.
