Baring – Arnold “Bud” Hartford, 80, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at his home. Bud was born in Calais on August 4, 1928, son of the late Jason and Thelma (Smith) Hartford. After school, Bud started his career with St. Croix Paper Co., where he worked for over 25 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Calais and the Frontier Lodge #111 I.O.O.F. in Baileyville. Bud enjoyed playing guitar, feeding the birds, woodworking, hunting and fishing. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Joyce Pratt; an infant brother, Carleton Hartford; and an infant great-grandson, Jacob Arnold Papke. Surviving are his loving wife of 62 years, Ruth (Wheelock) Hartford; two daughters, Joan McLean and her husband Michael of Calais and Jean Neddeau and her husband Dennis of Baileyville; seven grandchildren, Roger Lane and his wife Shirley, Beth Olsson and her husband Jason, John Neddeau, Bonnie Stewart and her husband Todd, Sherri Emery and her husband Mike, Bette Papke, and Lindsey Martin and her husband Jared; 15 great-grandchildren, Robert Lane, Christopher Stewart, Jessica Olsson, Michael McLaughlin, James Lane, Daniel Stewart, Aaron Neddeau, J.D. McLaughlin, Keith Turner, Jordyn Olsson, Joshua Stewart, Billy Neddeau, Heidi Neddeau, Alex Jean Papke, and Kyle Martin; and many nieces and nephews.
