Pembroke – Avis M. Whorley, 87, died on February 2, 2019 at Calais Regional Hospital. Avis was born in Pembroke on April 6, 1931 to Eugene C. and Olive (Carter) Mahar.
She graduated from Pembroke High School, Class of 1948 and was a life member of the Pennamaquan Chapter #146, Order of the Eastern Star.
In addition to her parents, Avis was predeceased by her beloved husband, Edgar “Bud” Whorley; a brother, Carl Mahar and his wife Jean and a sister, Elsie Cook and her husband Colby.
She is survived by her daughter, Pamela (Frost) Moore and her husband, Kevin of Waukesha, WI; her son, Kenneth Frost and his wife Janice of Meddybemps; her beloved granddaughters, Airyelle Frost of Westminster, MD, Jessica Moore and her husband, John Gardner of Milwaukee, WI and Melanie Moore of Waukesha, WI; a brother, Ralph Mahar and his wife, Mary of Pembroke; many loving cousins, nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Dennis Mahar and countless friends.
Avis’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at both Washington Place and Calais Regional Hospital for the kind and compassionate care they provided.
A service to honor and celebrate Avis’s life will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, July 20th at Dennysville Congregational Church, 15 King St., Dennysville.
