Obituary for Barbara Janice Clifford (Calder)

Pembroke – Barbara Janice Clifford, 87, passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at Westgate Manor in Bangor. Barbara was born in Eastport on April 14, 1929, daughter of Clarence and Doris (McGarvey) Calder. She was raised in Eastport and graduated from Shead High School, Class of 1948. Barbara enjoyed crafts and was known for her excellent crochet work. She had a passion for gardening, flowers, and was a devoted member of the Charlotte Baptist Church. Barbara babysat for numerous children throughout the community. Over everything else, spending time with her family was the most important to Barbara.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a brother Dale Calder; a sister Margaret Utley; and a daughter-in-law Julie Clifford. Surviving are her three children, Percy Clifford of Ellsworth, Wayne Clifford of San Diego, CA, and Forrie Cotten of Bangor; ten grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; a sister Mary Kolc of Florida; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at Hillside Cemetery in Eastport. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
