Barry Wayne Blackmore

Newport – Barry Wayne Blackmore, 78, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 18, 2021 in Calais. Barry was born in Rumford on April 23, 1943, son of Adelbert and Ruth (Brice) Blackmore.

After graduating from Stephens High School in Rumford, Class of 1961, Barry enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving as a Communications Specialist. He was mostly stationed in Germany during his enlistment. Following his service, Barry returned home to Maine and started working at the Rumford paper mill. He went on to help his brother operate his KOA campground in Canaan. Eventually Barry became a custodian for the Newport School District, from which he retired. Barry was an avid golfer.

Barry was predeceased by his parents Adelbert and Ruth. Surviving are his two brothers, Tom LaVoie and companion Nancie of Sheffield Lake, OH, and Robert Blackmore and wife Ella Mae of Saco; his nieces and nephews, Kay, Karen, Kevin, Rebeccah, Laura and Mark; two grandnieces; two grandnephews; numerous dear friends including special friends Bill Boulier and Pete Fournier.
