Obituary for Barry Richard Dwelley

Baileyville – Barry Richard Dwelley, 73, passed away Friday, January 31, 2014 at Brooksville Regional Hospital in Florida. Barry was born in Princeton on February 11, 1940, son of the late Duane and Jessie (Penny) Dwelley. He graduated from Princeton High School, Class of 1958, and on November 10, 1962, he married Joyce Robinson. Barry was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the United States Air Force as an Armament and Electronics Technician for over 11 years. After leaving the Air Force, he continued his service with the Army National Guard in Calais, retiring in 2000 with a total of 39 years of service. Barry was also a heavy equipment operator for 31 years, 24 of those with Fred Moholland Trucking in Princeton, and over 7 years with Orland Dwelley & Son in Waite. Barry was a member of the Princeton Congregational Church, Princeton Rod & Gun Club, St. Croix Wanderers Campers Club, and W.T. Wren Post #23 American Legion in Baileyville. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling, camping and golfing.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a grandson Matthew; his sister Andrea; a special uncle Martin; and his faithful canine companion Lucky. Barry is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Joyce Dwelley of Baileyville and Brooksville, FL; two daughters, Valerie Kilby and husband Carroll of Dennysville, and Holly Lewis and husband David of East Waterboro; two grandchildren, Joshua Lewis of Limerick, and Ashley Durand of Durham; a special aunt Florence Rioux of Princeton; sister-in-law Gloria Burtt and husband Mark of Milford; and his nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held in the spring at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. Burial will follow in Princeton Cemetery with military honors.
