Obituary for Beatrice Adelaide Cummings

Eastport – Beatrice Adelaide “Beadie” Cummings, 87, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 20, 2009 at her home with her beloved family by her side. Beadie was born in West Pembroke on November 21, 1921, daughter of the late Walter “Cocker” and Ida (Dodge) Kierstead. After attending the Pembroke area schools, she moved to Portland where she worked at a ship yard in the inner bottoms of ships as a welder. Beadie returned back to Eastport and worked for various restaurants, hotels, and Guilford Industries. She enjoyed cooking and picking berries but mostly she loved being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In addition to her parents, Beadie was predeceased by two sisters, Winnie Smith and Barbara Cushing; and three brothers, Phil, Doug and Alfie Kierstead. Surviving are her six loving children, Patricia Craig and her husband Gary of Eastport, Inez Pastore and her husband Frank of Eastport, Michael Cummings and his wife Melanie of Eastport, Gloria Bragg and her husband Forrest of East Machias, Robert Cummings of Eastport, and Walter Cummings and his wife Colleen of Eastport; one sister, Gerry Kinney of Eastport; three brothers, John Kierstead and his wife Gert of Quinton, VA, Charles Kierstead and his wife Inez of Southport, N.C., and Dave Kierstead and his wife Dot of Portsmouth, N.H.; twelve grandchildren, Gary Craig Jr. and his wife Amanda of Eastport, Tammy Clark and her husband Richard of Eastport, Faith Cummings and her companion Lamont Sanders of Pleasant Point, Stacy Dickers and her husband Seth of Hampden, Melissa Dana of Pleasant Point, Teddy Cummings of Perry, James Daniels of Portland, Celia Cummings of Perry, Jessie Daniels of Orono, Fawn Cummings of Eastport, Michael Cummings of Perry, and Matt Cummings of Eastport; five great-grandchildren, Justin Craig, Brooke “Nana’s Angel” Clark, Nevaeh Dickers, Jackson Sanders and Ike Roucy; a “sis” Vera Barnes of Pembroke; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Homes, Calais and Eastport.
