Obituary for Bernice Vesta Tracy

Baileyville – Bernice Vesta Tracy, 78, passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Calais Regional Hospital. Bernice was born in Baileyville on June 6, 1934, daughter of the late Jack and Martha McCurdy. She graduated from Woodland High School and worked various retail jobs in Calais for several years. On December 16, 1959, she married Amos Tracy Jr. in Milltown. Bernice enjoyed fishing, camping at Clifford Lake, playing the guitar and singing, and playing cards. She loved her grandchildren very much and tried to make every Christmas a special time for them. Bernice would help anyone in need, was fun to be around and always spoke her mind. She will be fondly remembered by her family and all who knew her. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Elizabeth Griffin and her husband Maynard, and Alma Harvey and her husband Daniel; a brother Jim McCurdy; two sisters-in-law, Mary and Gloria; and a dear friend Maude Tozier. Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Amos Tracy Jr. of Baileyville; three sons, Wayne Tracy and his wife Barbara of Boise, ID, Bryant Tracy of South Portland, and Terry Tracy and his wife Michelle of Calais; seven grandchildren, four grandsons, Aidan, Alexander and Andrew Tracy of Boise, ID, and Scott Tracy of Calais; a special granddaughter Terri-Lynn Tracy of Calais; two step-grandchildren, Kevin Gebo of Machias and Cheryl-Ann Harriman of Princeton; a sister-in-law Dorothy McCurdy of Portland; many nieces and nephews; and her canine companion Zoey. A graveside service will be held in the spring at Woodland Cemetery in Baileyville. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
