Calais – Bertrand Roussel, 51, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010 at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. Bertrand was born in Edmundston, N.B. Canada on October 9, 1958, son of Fernand and Laurianne Roussel. He was employed for many years with Domtar in Baileyville. Bertrand was a communicant of St. James the Greater R.C. Church in Baileyville a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #149 in Calais where he formally served as Grand Knight. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. Surviving are his parents, Fernand and Laurianne Roussel of Princeton; three children, Charlene Woodruff and her husband Denny of Princeton, Bertrand Roussel and his wife Katherine of Virginia, and Christina Roussel and her companion Macky Bacon of Calais; four brothers, Rejean Roussel and his wife Wendy of Princeton, Imon Roussel and his wife Arlene of Princeton, Simon Roussel and his wife Kim of Princeton, and Valmond Roussel and his wife Sherry of Crawford Lake; five grandchildren, Ethan, Summer, Denny Alden and Cadance; and many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19, at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday at St. James the Greater R.C. Church, Baileyville. Burial followed in Princeton Cemetery. Donations in Bertrand’s memory may be made to American Cancer Society, 1 Bowdoin Mill Island Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086.
