Betsy Ann Lappin, 72, passed away surrounded by family on Monday, April 15, 2024, at Marshall Healthcare in Machias, ME.  Betsy was born in Rockford, IL, on April 30, 1951, daughter of Lloyd Chamberlain and Betty (Funk) Yunek.

 

After Betsy graduated from Winnebago High School in Winnebago, IL, she married James R. Lappin.  She went to work with her husband as a Deputy U.S. Marshall, a career that took them throughout the United States.  Settling in California, she earned a degree in Medical Billing.   After James passed away, she relocated back home to Illinois to be closer to family.  Over the years, Betsy and James enjoyed traveling and always dreamed of living in Maine.  In 2001, Betsy fulfilled that dream and moved to Baileyville.  She was a devout Christian and loved reading the bible and sharing scripture.  Betsy enjoyed listening to country music and line dancing.  

 

Betsy was predeceased by her parents, Lloyd and Betty; and her husband, James R. Lappin.  Surviving are her four children, James Lappin and wife Mary of Baileyville, Beverly Frecker and husband Bill of Waterville, Barbara Glidden and husband Ryan of Augusta, and Patrick Welch and wife Nicole of Augusta; eight grandchildren, David, Eyslin, Victoria, William, Kaylee, Jacob, Kaeden, and Sadie her siblings, Dorothy Kazuk of Roscoe, IL, Joyce Wartgow of Charlton, IA, Patrice Dilworth of Freeport, IL, Roberta Suess of Ridott, IL, and Ivan Chamberlain of Rockford, IL; and many nieces and nephews.

 

A celebration of Betsy’s life will be held at a later date.  Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
