Blanche Elizabeth Haskins

Baileyville – Blanche Elizabeth (Wahl) Haskins, 82, died at her home on March 2, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 12, 1935 in Calais.

She was predeceased by her parents, Harold and Rhoda (Mehan) Wahl; two husband Raymond Harriman and Robert Haskins; an infant son, Harold Harriman; two brothers, Charles McLellan and Stuart Wahl and her sister, Jean Averill. Blanche is survived by one daughter, Rhoda Leavitt and her husband, Donald; one son, Robert Harriman and his wife Rita; three grandchildren, Shawn Leavitt, Traci Dempsey and Julie Leavitt; great-grandchildren, Bishop Dempsey, Sophie Chickering and a child special to her, David Lappin.

Blanche took time off to raise her children to school age but otherwise worked as a telephone operator and as Postmaster of Woodland Post Office for many years. She also held many different offices in the American Legion Auxiliary. Blanche loved reading, playing cards, Bingo and watching game shows. She was loved by her family and friends and will be missed.

A graveside service at Woodland Cemetery will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 27, 2017 with Pastor John Gallant officiating. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
