Alexander – Calvin C. White, 94, passed away in Bangor on September 21, 2021. Calvin was born in Weld on July 25, 1927, to Coolidge and Eva (Osborn) White. Calvin attended Alexander school and played on the Alexander baseball team as a teen.
Calvin started working at a young age with his father, peeling pulp wood followed by many years working in the woods. He was eventually hired at St. Croix Paper Co., where he dedicated over 40 years. On November 23, 1946, Calvin married Dorothy Flood the love of his life, with whom he would share family, friends and many years of happiness.
Calvin was a member of the Alexander Grange, Odd Fellows Frontier Lodge in Baileyville, The Quarter Century Club, Carpenters & Joiners Union, St. Croix Trail Riders, Sam’s RV Club, and the Spednic Club. He also enjoyed woodworking, photography, traveling, bowling, and most of all, spending time with his family. Calvin attended the Peoples United Methodist Church in Baileyville, where he felt connected to Dorothy after her passing in 2013.
In addition to his parents, Calvin was predeceased by his wife Dorothy (Flood) White; brother, Charles White, and his sister Rowena Bates and her husband Everett.
He is survived by seven children, Mary Poulin and her husband Doug of Hampden, C. Bruce White and his wife Nada of Baileyville, Diana Corbett and her husband Richard of Baileyville, Michael White and his wife Mickey of Alexander, Rev. Gail White of Alexander, Dale Morgan of Alexander and Nancy Cochran and her husband Jeffrey of Hollis Center; sister Viola Dwelley of Alexander; sister-in-law Marguerite White of Calais; thirteen grandchildren, Justin, Jessie, Christopher, Kacie, Kallie, Devin, Brian, Nicole, Jamie, Vanessa, Lyndon, Bethany and Allen; twenty five great grandchildren; one great-great grandson and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6-8 pm on Friday, October 1st at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. The funeral will be held the following day at 2:00pm, Saturday, October 2nd at the funeral home with The Rev. Gail White officiating. Masks are required.
