Carolyn Ann McConnell

Lubec – Carolyn Ann McConnell, 70, died Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at her home. Carolyn was born in Lubec on April 4, 1938, daughter of the late Carl and Cecelia (Brown) Newman. She graduated from Lubec High School, Class of 1956. On July 20, 1957, Carolyn married Carl McConnell. She attended Husson College, graduated from the University of Maine at Machias with a Bachelors Degree in Education, and obtained her Masters Degree in Special Education from the University of Maine at Orono. From 1973 until 1998, Carolyn was employed as a teacher and special education administrator at various schools in Washington County, including Lubec School District (1973-1976), Edmunds (1976-1977), School Union 104 (1977-1984), SAD 19 (1984-1994), School Union 104 (1994-1995), and School Union 102 (1995-1998). Carolyn enjoyed teaching school, wintering in Sarasota, FL, and camping. Her most memorable times were with her family. Surviving are her husband of 51 years, Carl McConnell of Lubec; four children, Kevin McConnell and his wife Juli of Veazie, Gregory McConnell and his wife Debbie of Lubec, and her twin sons, Michael and Mitchell McConnell, both of Lubec; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and special friends.
