Baileyville – Catherine Ann Crosby, 54, passed away with her family by her side Sunday, May 4, 2014 at a Bangor hospital after a brief but courageous battle. Catherine was born in England on February 3, 1960, daughter of Melvin and the late Ruth (Stowell) Randall. She graduated from Central High School in East Corinth, Class of 1977. Cathy moved to Pennfield, NB, Canada and worked in the office of the local lumber mill until moving to Baileyville to work in the family restaurant, Randy’s Lazy H. On September 21, 1985, she married Philip Crosby, the love of her life. In 1986 Cathy started her own day care center she operated throughout the rest of her life with pride and joy. Many children passed through her doors leaving lasting impressions on not only Cathy but also the families. Cathy was a woman of strong faith who was not only a member of People’s United Methodist Church in Baileyville, but active in the fundamental running of the church including being a Sunday School Teacher and currently serving as Treasurer and Lay Leader. Cathy also was a member of the Spednic Club, Breakneck Mountain ATV Club, and St. Croix Trail Riders. She loved her family and enjoyed gardening, painting, crafts, 4-wheeling, kayaking, and traveling, especially to Savannah, GA. Cathy was looking forward to the birth of her first grandchild, Catherine Lin Bohanon.
Cathy was predeceased by her mother Ruth; father-in-law Charles Crosby; and a special uncle Allan Stowell. Surviving are her loving husband of 28 years, Philip Crosby; her two precious daughters, Dr. Elizabeth Crosby of LaCrosse, WI, and Alison Bohanon and husband Brent of Baileyville; her father Melvin Randall; a sister, Rhonda Oakes and husband Carl of Alexander; two brothers, James Randall and companion Pam Allen of Calais, and David Randall and wife Kellie of Baileyville; many special and loved nieces and nephews; mother-in-law Beverly Crosby of Baileyville; two sisters-in-law Muriel McPhee and husband Danny, and Diane Roderick; two brothers-in-law, Frank Crosby and wife Sandy, and Jerry Crosby and companion Nancy Treadwell, all of Baileyville; and a special friend and “daughter”, Erica Pike and companion Jason Croman, and their two children, Cathy’s “grandchildren”, Ava and Connor; as well as numerous dear friends and family.
Visiting hours will be held 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, May 8, 2014 at People’s United Methodist Church, 86 Summit St., Baileyville. A celebration of Cathy’s life will begin at 1 p.m. following the visitation. After the service a time of fellowship will be held at the Spednic Club in Baileyville. Burial will be held in Woodland Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Cathy’s memory may be made to People’s United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 86 Summit St., Baileyville, ME 04694.
