She was born in Eastport on December 11, 1928, the daughter of George and Frances (Tooze) Lee. She graduated from Shead Memorial High School in 1946 and married Joseph F. Miliano in 1950. Catherine held various jobs in Eastport over the years, including telephone operator and office worker at the Guilford Mill Store. Her last job before full retirement was librarian at Peavey Memorial Library, where she loved visiting with the patrons. She had a special fondness for the children who visited the library. Catherine spent most of her life in Eastport, but in her later years was forced to move into assisted living, first in Calais and most recently at The Woodlands in Hallowell, where she resided at the time of her death. She was a Communicant of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Eastport and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallowell. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Circle Daughters of Isabella for over fifty years. Catherine was predeceased by her parents and her husband Joseph. She is survived by her six children, Frances of Farmingdale, Joseph and his wife Karen of Cornish, John and his wife Jan of Gorham, Peter and his wife Yasumi of Yokohama, Japan, Stephen and his wife Eileen of San Antonio, Texas, and Nancy James and her husband John of Princeton; grandchildren, Mark, Maria, Emily, Anastasia, Natalie, Michael, Justin, Holly, Thomas and Andrew; her sister, Pauline Meyer of Florida; special cousin Jean McCawley of Quincy, Mass.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She also leaves friends that were very dear to her, Jill, Cathie, Madonna, Ruth, Eleanor, Laura, Judith, Fern and others too numerous to mention…you know who you are.
