Baileyville – Charlene Louise Perkins, 92, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at Calais Community Hospital. Charlene was born in Kingfield on June 14, 1929, daughter of Ralph and Margaret (Hannington) Scott.

Charlene graduated from St. Croix High School in Baileyville, Class of 1948, where she played sports and served as Captain of the basketball team. On June 7, 1952, she married her love, Lawrence Perkins. Charlene was a member of People’s United Methodist Church in Baileyville, Past Noble Grand and District President of Rebekah Lodge #140, Past President of American Legion Auxiliary Unit #23 in Baileyville, and Captain of the bowling league at the Spednic Club.

In addition to her parents, Charlene was predeceased by her beloved husband Lawrence Perkins; brother Ernest “Bungy” Scott; and sisters Lois Stimson and Greta Leighton. Surviving are her daughter Connie Giannetto and husband Ronald of Baileyville; two grandchildren, Amy Cox of Dixfield, and Lawrence Cox and wife Cheryl of Chambersburg, PA; four great-grandchildren, Aaron Libby of Carthage, Kalee Libby of Dixfield, and Steven and Christopher Cox, both of Chambersburg, PA; a great-great granddaughter, Paityn Jackson; was looking forward to welcoming her second great-great granddaughter Kynslee Libby, due in September; nieces and nephews, Brian and Janell Boomer of Princeton, Brent and Beth Boomer of Baileyville, and Lisa and Paul Jacobs of South Bend, IN, Linda Hawkes of Glenburn, Barbara Wheaton of Hampden, Phyllis and Jonathan Wheaton of Alexander, Vicki and Louis Martin of Bangor, and Donna and Jeffrey LaCroix of TN; and many great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

A Celebration of Charlene’s Life will be held 10 a.m. Monday, June 6, 2022 at People’s United Methodist Church in Baileyville. Burial will follow in the Woodland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Charlene’s memory may be made to the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #23, PO Box 603, Baileyville, ME 04694. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
