Charlotte - Charles A. Bridges, 88, died November 3, 2016 in the arms of his loving family. He was born July 22, 1928, in Whitneyville, the son of Colby and Vivian (Hasty) Bridges.
Charles enjoyed a lifelong career as a woodsman, working as a cookee in the woods camps from age 12. He joined the Navy in 1950 and served aboard the U.S.S. Harwood as a Torpedo Inspector 3rd Class. Upon honorable discharge from the service, Charles enjoyed an early career cruising for the James W. Sewall company in Old Town and later as a logging operation inspector for Georgia-Pacific. Upon retirement, he enjoyed gardening, birdwatching, reading voraciously, finishing crossword puzzles, and spending time with his family.
Charles is survived by his two daughters Rebecca Bridges and Vivian Blatt and her husband Gregory Blatt. He is also survived by his sisters Dorothy Bodger and Della Carroll, and two brothers Norman Reynolds and wife Betty, and Vinal Reynolds and wife Joyce and many sweet nieces and handsome nephews.
He was pre-deceased by his wife of 55 years and best friend, Patricia M. (Townsend) Bridges, his younger sister Addie Dennison, and cherished nephews Colby Dennison and Dwayne Reynolds.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Mays Funeral Home-Flagg Chapel, 72 High Street, Eastport.
