Princeton – Charles L. Cousins, 86, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 02, 2012 at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth. Charles was born in Cooper on June 27, 1926, son of the late Clarence and Etta (Flood) Cousins. He enlisted in the US Army and served his country during World War II. He was an avid hunter and fishermen, but his fondest memories were spending time with his family, he especially loved making memories with his grandchildren and sharing stories with family. Charles was a wonderful father and was extremely devoted to his wife, Rowena; as her caregiver, he had great concern for her wellbeing. Charles kept busy and truly enjoyed life; he took up woodworking and built many cherished items for his family after his retirement from Georgia Pacific. He worked for just under 40 years at GP in Baileyville. Charles was member of the Princeton Baptist Church for many years where he served faithfully in many areas. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased his loving wife Rowena (Damon) Cousins in 2010; a son, Charles Cousins Jr. in 2010; two brothers, Hilton and Royce Cousins and a sister, Hilda Greenlaw. Surviving are his three children, Joan Carle and her husband Barry of Enfield, CT, Judy Knapp and her husband Fred of Princeton, and Brenda Bilodeau and her husband Don of Leeds; a daughter-in-law Ann Cousins of Greensboro, NC; ten grandchildren, Scott and Nathan Carle, Karen Powers, Mandy and Nicole Cousins, Brian and Andrew Knapp, Wendy Bays, Lynn Blanche and Cherie Bilodeau; eleven great-grandchildren, Grace, Matthew, Jewel and Hope Carle, Valerie Powers, Tyquain and Devandre Williams, Kaleb and Abigail Bays and Carter and Emma Blanche; one great-great grandson, Matthew James Carle; two sisters, Vernice Young of Bar Harbor and Thursa Sawyer of Charlotte; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Visiting hours will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais, on Thursday, October 4th and from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Friday at the Princeton Baptist Church, Main St., Princeton, where a celebration of Charles’ life will begin at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the Princeton Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the Princeton Baptist Church, to help build a roof over the handicap ramp, PO Box 376, Princeton, ME 04668.
