Obituary for Charles Edward Curtis

Princeton – Charles Edward Curtis, 71, died November 8, 2014 in Bangor with his family at his side after a courageous 2 year battle with ALS. Chuck was born on May 9, 1943 to Charles L. and Ethel (Koski) Curtis in Michigan where he spent a great part of his life. While based at Quantico, VA with the United State Marine Corps, Chuck met Ruth McLaughlin where they later married on August 1, 1964. They began a family in Michigan then made their way back to Ruth’s home state of Maine in 1994. Chuck worked as a boat mechanic for many years and spent his free time on the water fishing, a passion that he passed down to his sons.

In addition to his wife of over 50 years, Elva Ruth Curtis, Chuck is survived by his two sons, Charles L. Curtis and his companion Amanda Larkin and Phillip E. Curtis and his wife Amelia all of Princeton; three grandsons, Robert of Virginia, Andrew of Baileyville and Charles Curtis of Princeton; three granddaughters, Lisa, Emily and Kristen Curtis all of Princeton; a great grandson, Gabriel Curtis of Baileyville; step grandchildren, Noah Linton and Maddison Jordan of Princeton; brother-in-law, Arnold McLaughlin of Princeton; sister-in-law, Dorothy Brown of Veazie and many special cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his parents; his granddaughter, Amanda Beth Curtis and grandson, William Gordon Curtis. In following with Chuck’s wishes there will not be a service. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
