Obituary for Cheryl Marie Roussel-Recker

Calais & Shepherd, MI – Cheryl Marie Roussel Recker, 49, passed away Friday, May 20, 2016 at the Woodland Hospice House in Mount Pleasant, MI. Cheryl was born in Nashua, NH on July 22, 1966, the daughter of Richard and Barbara (Williams) Roussell. She graduated from Calais High School and helped her father in his business, Rick’s Can & Bottle, until returning to school at University of Maine at Machias where she studied accounting. After college, Cheryl owned and operated the only redemption center in St. Stephen, NB for several years. Eventually she met Dan Recker and relocated to Michigan where they were married. While in Michigan Cheryl was a member of Local 1098 where she worked as a construction and craft laborer.

In addition to her parents, Richard and Barbara Roussell of Calais, she is survived by her husband Dan Recker of Shepherd, MI; three sons, Lewis Scribner and wife Heather of Pleasant, MI, Ryan Scribner and wife Ashley of St. Stephen, NB, and Greg Scribner and wife Cassie of Old Town; seven grandchildren, Austin, Zack, Rylan, Kayden, Serenity, Desitny and Noah; three step-children; four step-grandchildren; mother-in-law Linda Miller of Shepherd, MI; four brothers, Richard Roussel and wife Susan of Calais, Dale Roussel and wife Missy of Calais, Roger Roussel of Calais, and David Roussel of Freeport; two sisters, Charlene Monzo and husband Michael of Bethel, and Carolee Black and husband Bob of Calais; nieces and nephews, Andrew, Angela and husband Jess, Jessica and husband Brodie, Kasey, Ashley and husband Geoff, Justin, Bethany, Lauren, Erica, Breanna, Chloe and Malorie; great- nieces and great-nephews, Cheyenne, Ethan, Adam, Addison, Wyatt, Jace, Aubrey, Scarlett, Gage, Iris and Emma; two special aunts, Marge and Gert; two special uncles, Tiny and Scott; and her beloved pets, canine Tigger and rabbit BonBon.

A celebration of Cheryl’s life will be held 4 p.m. Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. Following the service, a gathering will be held at Washington County Community College. A private burial will take place in Calais Cemetery at a later date.
