Eastport – Christian Arthur Malloch, 55, passed away, May 30, 2016 at a Bangor Hospital after a long illness. Chris was born August 10, 1960 at Eastport Memorial Hospital, son of Harold and Sheila (Fernald) Malloch.
Chris attended Eastport Schools and graduated from Shead Memorial High School, class of 1979 before enrolling at the Marine Trade Center, “The Boat School”, in Eastport where he graduated from the Marine Finishing Program. He was then employed by Samples’ Shipyard in Boothbay Harbor before returning to Eastport where he was employed by Federal Marine Terminals for 25 years.
Chris loved participating in the Dennys River canoe runs, mountain biking and spending time at his camp on Boyden Lake. He was an accomplished bassist and enjoyed playing music with many fellow musicians. He formed the band “Trails” along with several very close friends which performed at numerous events in Washington County. Chris was a great son, brother, uncle and friend.
He was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Sheila Malloch. Chris is survived by his brothers, Scott Malloch and his wife Ann and Gilbert Murphy and his wife Alda, all of Eastport; niece Olivia Malloch and her partner, Erik Flaherty of Orrington; great nieces, Alyssa Malloch of Eastport and Hannah Flaherty of Orrington; nephews Michael Murphy and his family of Orono and Andrew Murphy and his family of East Arlington, VT.
A graveside service for Chris will be held 11:00 a.m., Sunday, June 26th at Hillside Cemetery, Eastport. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
