Pembroke and San Diego, CA – Christopher Alan Mills, 66, passed away unexpectedly Monday, November 10, 2014 in San Diego, CA. Christopher was born in Eastport on August 28, 1948, son of the late Junius “Dune” and Rachel (Clark) Mills. He graduated from Pembroke High School, Class of 1966, and attended Palm Beach Junior College in Lake Worth, FL. Christopher enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1967 and honorably served 30 years, retiring in 1997 as a Master Chief Sonar Technician Surface. Following his retirement Christopher worked for several years as a senior principal analyst for a defense contractor.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Deborah Flower; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Surviving are his companion of 17 years, Pam Alcorn of Spring Valley, CA, Pam’s mother Delores Alcorn, and the extended Alcorn family in Hawaii; three sisters, Carolyn Mahar and husband Paul of Dennysville, Catherine Stevens and husband Stanley of Dennysville, and Marilyn Leighton and husband Mark of Harrington; niece and nephews, Joel Mahar of Bangor, Rachel Goodwin and husband Christopher of Pembroke and their children Paige and Addison, Brian Jones and wife Angela of Edmunds and their children Jenna, Cooper, and Wesley, Timothy Flower and wife Gwen of Aurora, CO and their children Vincent, Branwyn, and Zoey, Matthew Flower of Brooklyn, NY, Christopher Flower and wife Alexandra of Denver, CO, Allen Leighton and wife Morgan of Milbridge and their children Cody and Lainie, Michael Leighton and wife Dawn Marie of Harrington and their son Mason, and Jeffrey Leighton and his daughter Rylee, and Jeffrey’s companion Kari and her son Bryant, of Cherryfield; and numerous cousins and friends.
A graveside service with military honors will be held in the spring at Clarkside Cemetery in Pembroke. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
