Pleasant Point – Clifford Joseph Mitchell Sr., 70, passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Eastern Maine Medical Center with his family by his side. Clifford was born in Pleasant Point on January 28, 1948, son of Joseph and Bertha (Moore) Mitchell.
After attending school in Pleasant Point, Clifford became a painter, specializing in metal structures. He traveled throughout New England painting metal structures such as towers and bridges. Clifford loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and clam digging.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sons, Clifford Mitchell Jr. and Thomas Mitchell; and a brother Frederick Mitchell. Surviving are five children, Jason Mitchell and fiancé Kendra Wilder of Bradley, Amber Mitchell of Eddington, Patrick Mitchell of Bradley, and Derek Mitchell of Veazie; five grandchildren, Braylynn, Brayden, Tyler, Mercedes and Nicholas; a sister Margaret Rose Newell of Pleasant Point; a brother Joseph Mitchell Sr. and fiancé Barbara Newell of Pleasant Point; Veronica Moore who was like a sister; his Godchild Veronica Newell; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held at his home, 40 Passamaquoddy Rd., Pleasant Point beginning 2 p.m. Sunday, February 4, 2018 until 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at the Pleasant Point Tribal Cemetery. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
