Cole Leroy Bridges

Calais – Cole Leroy Bridges, 67, passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2009 in Calais. Cole was born in St. Stephen, N.B. on August 11, 1942, son of the late Cole and Jessie Helene (Boone) Bridges. He graduated from the Calais High School, Class of 1960, and the University of Maine in Orono with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. After college, Cole returned home to help run the family businesses, including the local Chrysler dealership, the Shell Oil Distributor for Washington County, blueberry farms and rental apartments. He retired in 1995. Cole enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid aircraft pilot, flying helicopters, float planes and airplanes. Surviving are his two children, Cole Gregory Bridges and his wife Candy of Calais, and Ursula Mathieu and her husband Chris of Winslow; five grandchildren, Brittney Bridges of Bangor, Cole Tyler and Matthew Bridges of Calais, and Rochelle and Timothy Mathieu of Winslow; his dear friend, Pamela Bridges; brother William Bridges and his wife Joan of Oak Bay, N.B.; sister Brenda Cook and her husband Steve of Menlo Park, CA; a niece Nicole Bridges of Oak Bay, N.B.; three nephews, Ryan Bridges and his wife Carla of Moores Mills, N.B., and Edgar and Vincent Cook, both of CA; a great niece, Hallie Bridges; and a cousin, Laird Ketchen of Victoria, B.C. Visiting hours will be held 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Ray Morse officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Bay Cemetery, N.B. Donations in Cole’s memory may be made to the Calais Regional Hospital, 24 Hospital Lane, Calais, ME 04619.
