Baring – Dale Robert Olsson, 52, died unexpectedly Friday, April 1, 2016 with his family by his side at a Bangor hospital. Dale was born in Calais on April 25, 1963, son to Robert and Evelyn (Wallace) Olsson. He graduated from Calais High School, Class of 1981, and attended University of Maine in Machias. Dale worked construction and as a welder until starting his career with U.S. Customs and Border Protection, where he was stationed in Calais. His grandchildren were the light of his life and he enjoyed spending quality time with them. Dale was an avid reader, especially science fiction.
He was predeceased by his father Robert “Bob” Olsson, and a sister Stephanie Olsson. Surviving are the love of his life and best friend, his wife Alice (Pratt) Olsson; his mother Evelyn Noddin and husband Ed of Baring; two children, Wayne Sowers II and companion Adrienne Dority of Ellsworth, and Brittany Sowers and fiancé Kenneth Fredette of Gorham; his two grandchildren whom he loved dearly, Lauren and Benjamin Fredette; two brothers, Mark Olsson and wife Angela of Corinth, and Glenn Olsson and fiancé Alice Ann of Foreman, AR; two nieces, Stephanie Thompson and husband Steve, and Tiffany Batten and husband Coty; many loving aunts, uncles and cousins; numerous dear friends; and his extended family from US Customs and Border Protection.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, April 5, 2016, 12 noon until 1 p.m. at Washington County Community College Gymnasium, where a celebration of Dale’s life will begin at 2 p.m. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
