Perry – Darlene Josephine Jurewicz, 55, passed away Friday, March 18, 2022 at Down East Community Hospital. Darlene was born in Manchester, CT on June 14, 1966, daughter of John and Laura (Francis) Jurewicz.

Darlene was one of the first girls to attend and graduate from Cheney Tech in Manchester, CT, earning her electrician license, Class of 1984. She worked at the Big Y throughout Connecticut for over 10 years. Being diagnosed with breast cancer, Darlene fought a courageous battle and became cancer free. This led her to become interested in the medical field and she graduated from Manchester Community College, earning her degree as a surgical technician. Darlene worked as a surgical technician for organ donations, traveling throughout the Northeast. She also worked at a local funeral home that was owned and operated by her friend.

In 2015 Darlene moved to Maine, settling in Perry. She worked at the Wickachee in Calais, and the Sipayik Elder Meal Site. Darlene was an excellent cook and enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with her family and friends.

Darlene was predeceased by a step-son Jesse Williams. Surviving are her parents, John and Laura Jurewicz of Perry; her son Jeffery Bremser of Perry; six grandchildren, Amaya, Cecila, Emma, Jace, Logan and Laura; three brothers, John Jurewicz Jr. and wife Doreen of Vernon, CT, Francis “Poncho” Jurewicz and wife Terri of Vernon, CT, and Jay Jurewicz of Sipayik; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins whom she loved dearly; and her canine companion Jada.

Visitation will take place at the Sipayik Elder Meal Site beginning 2 p.m. Friday, March 25, 2022. A funeral outside of Mass will be celebrated by Father Brad Morin 11 a.m. Saturday, March 26 at the Meal Site. Burial will follow at the Tribal Cemetery. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
