Darlington A. Ricker Jr.

January 12, 1952 — October 10, 2024

Robbinston

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Darlington Alan Ricker Jr., affectionately known as Dar, who left this world peacefully at his home on October 10, 2024, at the age of 72, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on January 12, 1952, in Portland, Maine, he was the son of the late Darlington "Buck" and Mildred (Adams) Ricker.

Dar's early years were spent in South Portland, before enlisting in the United States Army. He proudly served as an infantryman in the 82nd Airborne Division, a testament to his bravery and commitment to his country. After his honorable service, he returned to Maine and embarked on a successful career as an electrician, eventually achieving the title of Master Electrician. On October 5, 1974, he married the love of his life, Louisette Lise, marking the beginning of a beautiful journey together which led to the recent celebration of their 50th anniversary.

An avid lover of the great outdoors, Dar found immense joy in the tranquility of the ocean, whether he was working on the water or fishing for recreation. His passion extended to the land as well, where he took great pleasure in utilizing his equipment to cultivate a life for his family. He dedicated himself to constructing numerous homes throughout his life, pouring his heart into each project, most notably their retirement home on Boyden Lake. Dar was not only a proud veteran but also a member of the William T. Wren Post #23 American Legion in Baileyville. Yet, above all else, it was the time spent with his family, especially his treasured grandchildren and great-grandchildren, that filled his heart with true happiness.

Dar is survived by his devoted wife, Louise Ricker; seven loving children: Bili Jo Turner and her husband David of Robbinston, Darci Turner and her husband Darren of Charlotte, Bobbi Lea Tardif and her husband Toby of Perry, Sara Moore and her husband Ryan of Perry, Laureta Wood and her husband Nick of Machiasport, Ruby Scoggins and her husband Joe of Leland, NC, and Adam Cote and his wife Jane of Franklin, NH. His legacy continues through several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, two sisters, Sandy Rome and her husband Scottie of Robbinston, and Diane Arseneau and her husband Donnie of Gardner, as well as two brothers, Del Ricker of Calais, and Peter Ricker and his wife Sheila of Perry, and a myriad of nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the exceptional hospice team whose compassionate care exceeded our expectations, and to our dear friend Kaloua Stanhope, who is like family to us, for supporting not only Dar but the entire family during this time.

A Celebration of Dar’s Life will be held 2 p.m. Monday, October 14, 2024, at Calvary Chapel Coastline, 1292 U.S. Route 1, Perry, ME 04667, with his nephew Pastor Caleb Ricker officiating.
