Obituary for Darryl J Nicholas Sr.

Indian Township – Darryl John “Pineapple” Nicholas Sr., 51, died unexpectedly Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at a Calais hospital. Darryl was born in Eastport, January 30, 1955, son of the late John and Eva Zanes. He was a former Lieutenant with Indian Township Police Department, served as a Tribal Council Member for many years, worked for Indian Township Public Works, and currently as a housing commissioner for Indian Township Housing Authority. Darryl enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting, and dancing. He married Gail Stevens on May 17, 1991. Darryl was predeceased by his grandparents, Frances and Calvin Nicholas. Surviving are his loving wife, Gail; two sons, Darryl J. Nicholas Jr. and companion Heather and his daughter Cadence, and Ian Stevens and companion Heather and his daughter Kendra and Ashton Hayman; a daughter, Heidi Stevens; three sisters Noreen Townson and husband Jeff of Arizona, Frances Nicholas and Alice Nicholas, both of Pleasant Point; two brothers, David Nicholas and Alponse Andosia, both of Pleasant Point; a special uncle, Carl Nicholas Sr. and wife Faye and family of Princeton, an uncle Calvin Nicholas and wife Patricia and family of Pleasant Point; a dear friend, Norm Nicholson of Waite; his two canine companions, Luke and Sheba; and many cousins and friends. Friends may call from Thursday, 6 p.m. till Saturday 9 a.m. at the Elderly Meal Site in Indian Township. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, 9:30 a.m. at St. Anne’s Mission, Peter Dana Point, with Father Frank Morin Celebrant. Burial will follow in the Tribal Cemetery.
