David William Chappell

Alexander – David William Chappell, 70, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2001 at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. David was born in Rochester, NY on January 17, 1941, son of the late Edward Roland and Ellen (Morley) Chappell. After graduating high school, he furthered his education at Rochester Institute of Technology, receiving his Bachelor’s degree. David started his career in retail store management with Newberry’s Department Store. He then went to Mammoth Mart, King’s Department Store, and finally with Ames in Calais, where he retired. David loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and four-wheeling. Surviving are his wife Cheryl (Mott) Chappell of Alexander; five step-children, Samantha Newbury and her husband Chris of St. Stephen, N.B., Jennifer Nickson and her fiancé Chris Downey of St. Stephen, N.B., Stacy Acheson and her husband Ryan of St. Andrews, N.B., Beth Leavitt and her husband Mel of N.H., and Mary Wenig and her husband Barry of N.H.; a brother William Chappell and his wife Elizabeth and their daughter Maura of New York; his sister Karen Allen; his grandchildren, Katie, Zachary, Taylor, Brooklynn, Emma, Brice, Megan, Jacob, Cayla, Talia and Eli; and his mother-in-law, Sharon McGinn of Calais. In keeping with David’s wishes, there will be no services. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
