David Paul Claroni, 46, passed away unexpectedly from a medical event on Friday, March 24, 2023, at his home in Baileyville. David was born in Peterborough, NH, on February 25, 1977, son of Paul and Sally (Wells) Claroni.
David graduated from Shead High School in Eastport, Class of 1995. At a young age he knew he wanted to go into law enforcement and was an Explorer with the Eastport Police Department. David went to Southern Maine Community College where he earned an associate degree in criminal justice. While in college, David was active with the Big Brother program. He returned to Washington County and started his career with the Pleasant Point Police Department. Throughout his law enforcement career, David was employed with police departments for Pleasant Point, Machias, Calais, Indian Township, and most recently Baileyville. He expanded his training by working as a School Resource Officer, Bike Officer, Drug Recognition Expert, Field Training Officer, and a MARC Instructor. David also was an Adjunct Professor for Washington County Community College and was trained for the D.A.R.E. program which he provided for the Calais Elementary School.
David loved his Lord and Savior and was a Deacon with the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Eastport. He had a passion for physical fitness and weightlifting. David went to many weightlifting meets in Las Vegas and Reno, NV, holding several state records and two international records. Above everything, David loved spending time with his family and being the best “grampie Dave”.
Surviving are his wife Stephanie Stoddard of Baileyville; parents, Paul and Sally Claroni of Eastport; step-children, Alyssa Jackson and husband Tyler and their daughter Quinn of South Portland, and Jessi Farrar and companion Courtney Compos of Walpole, NH; father-in-law Terrance Stoddard of Jamaica, VT; mother-in-law Linda Stevens of Bondeville, VT; aunts and uncles, George Wells III and Catherine O’Brian, Joseph and Lucy Claroni, and Mary Catherine Strickland; brothers-in-law, Jason Stoddard and wife Heather of Old Orchard Beach, and Corey Stoddard and companion Kary Noble of Stratton Mountain, VT; and numerous dear friends.
