Pleasant Point – David Gordon Homan, 76, passed away Friday, May 6, 2022 at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. David was born in Pleasant Point on December 28, 1945, son of John and Viola (Dana) Homan.
After attending school, David worked various jobs until enlisting in the United States Marine Corps, serving as an infantryman. He served a tour in Vietnam where he was awarded the Purple Heart. Following his honorable service, David returned home and worked various jobs until his retirement. He was an avid writer and carver and enjoyed going for drives and playing the guitar. David was proud of his military service and extremely proud to be a Marine, Semper Fi.
In addition to his parents, David was predeceased by two daughters, Jacinta “JC” Altvater, and Melissa “Lala” Altvater; two sisters, Gail Runninghawk and Mary Nora Homan; and a niece Melanie Dana. Surviving are three children, Jonathan Altvater and wife Tiffany of Pleasant Point, Nathan Murphy and fiance Kristina Schaeffer of Calais, and Stormi McLaughlin and husband Joe of Pleasant Point; 21 grandchildren, Portia, Falon, Samara, Snowlilly, Therese, Ashton, Gavin, Natalie, Jayla, Jayce, Kacen, Kinap, Michael, Jonathan, Mahqan, Eltyn, Nathan II, Brandon, Morgan, Chloe and Phoenix; many great-grandchildren; three brothers, Lewis Homan, John “Pinto” Homan and wife Lorene and their children Eunice, Juliann and Aboluwes “Ubbie”, and Arnold Francis; a sister Peggy Pottle; many nieces and nephews; and numerous relatives and close friends.
Visitation will begin 12 noon Sunday, May 8, 2022 at the Pleasant Point Elder Meal Site until 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 10. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. in the Meal Site with Father Brad Morin officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Point Tribal Cemetery.
