Pembroke – David “Colby” Leonard, 54, passed away at his home on April 25, 2011 with his wife, Mary, by his side. Colby was born in Castine on January 24, 1957 to Frank and Louise (DeLaite) Leonard. He worked for many years at both Pembroke Irving and The Triangle AG convenience stores as a cashier; the Georgia Pacific flake board mill in Baileyville for 16 years and he also worked as a plumber and heating technician with Leighton’s Plumbing and Heating in Pembroke. He was a member of the Pembroke fire department for many years and Tres Dias of Maine since 2006. Colby held the title of Co Captain of The Rowdies Relay for Life Cancer Walk team proudly participating for the last 8 years with his wife Mary. Colby was predeceased by his mother, Louise Leonard; brother, Jeffrey and several aunts and uncles. Survivors include his loving wife of 31 years, Mary (Sawyer) Leonard; his father, Frank Leonard of Searsport; Brother-In-Law, Bob Sawyer and his wife Marilyn of Pembroke; Sister-In-Law, Debbie Consalvo of Searsport; niece, Melissa Osafo-Mensah and her husband, Nana and their children, Jacob, Alexa and Isaiah, all of Charles Town, WV; nephews, Bradley Sawyer and his wife Kimberly and her son Mike Hannah, all of Pembroke, and Ian Sawyer and his partner Mandy and their children Keegan and Aiden, all of Eastport; aunts Dorothy York and her husband Howard of Penobscot, and Cleo Cottrell and her husband Robert of Verona Island; good friends Suzanne Cushing and JR Leighton both of Pembroke and his special feline companion, King Solomon Kat. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on July 9th at Clarkside Cemetery in Pembroke.
