Debra Jean (Cook) Hooper

Eastport – Debra ‘Debbie’ Hooper, 54, died Monday, April 26, 2010, at the Eastport Memorial Nursing Home. She was born February 16, 1956 in Eastport, the daughter of William ‘Sonny’ Cook and Marcella Lorraine (Ramsdell) Cook. Debbie grew up on the island and attended Eastport schools. For most of her life, she worked in the local area before moving to Albuquerque, New Mexico for several years. She returned to Eastport to be surrounded by her friends and family. Her family will always be grateful for the loving care Debbie received from the staff at the Eastport Nursing Home. Survivors include: husband; Robin L. Hooper of Tucson, Arizona; two sons; Michael W. Cook of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Jac A. Cook of Tucson, Arizona; three brothers Hazen “Buddy” Cook of Baileyville, William ‘Billy’ Cook Jr. of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Richard ‘Ricky’ Cook of Eastport; one sister, Bobbie Jo Rice of Blue Hill; five grandchildren; four nieces; and four nephews. Visiting hours will be held 4 – 6 p.m. Friday, April 30, 2010 at Mays Funeral Home – Flagg Chapel, 72 High St., Eastport. A funeral service will be held following the visitation at 6 p.m. Friday with Father James Plourde officiating. A graveside committal service will be held 12 noon on Saturday, May 1, at Brewer Cemetery in Robbinston. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 225 North Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
