Dolores Mae Rickford

Siren, Wisconsin & Eastport – Dolores Mae Rickford, 83, passed away with her family by her side on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at Calais Regional Hospital. Dolores was born in North Dakota on March 13, 1928, daughter of the late Iver and Thelma (Johnson) Dahl. After graduating from high school, she attended teacher’s college and worked as a teacher for K-8 grades. When she married Francis Rickford, she left the school to raise her family and work on the family dairy farm. After her retirement, Dolores worked various small jobs including in the local deli and decorating cakes. Delores was active in Cross Lutheran Church in Roberts, WI in her younger years and most recently Bethany Lutheran Church in Siren, WI. Dolores loved helping people by being a member of the Extension Homemakers of St. Croix County in Wisconsin. She enjoyed baking, sewing, crafts, crocheting, reading and visiting her daughter in Eastport. While in Eastport, she attended Grace Chapel in Pembroke. In addition to her parents, Dolores was predeceased by her husband Francis; and a grandson Brian McDonald. Surviving are her three children, Francine McDonald of Eastport, Thora Fae Schulte and her husband Wayne of Hammond, WI, and Jeffrey Rickford and his wife Brenda of Siren, WI; seven grandchildren, Amy Holmes and her husband Floyd Jr. of Calais, Daniel McDonald of Charlotte, Clayton McDonald and his fiancé Jessica Drake of Eastport, April Alton and her husband Gary of River Falls, WI, Jessica Heilman of OH, Chelsea Heilman of Syran, WI, and Alan Rickford of Siren, WI; seven great-grandchildren, Andrea and Avery Holmes, Sophia and Luke McDonald, Natalie McDonald, and Aidan and Alexander Alton; two sisters, Vilma Sanders and Myrna Leininger and her husband Larry; and a brother, David Dahl and his wife Doris. A celebration of Dolores’ life was held on May 7, 2011 at Grace Chapel in Pembroke. Burial will be in Wisconsin. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
