Bangor – Dominic Michael LaCoote, 55, passed away unexpectedly on October 8, 2021. Dominic was born to Lawrence and Loretta (Sopiel) LaCoote on June 11, 1966, in Indian Township.
Dominic worked for many years driving a taxi in Bangor with both Dick’s Taxi and Town Taxi. He will be remembered for his kind heartedness and compassion toward others. Dominic didn’t have a lot, but he had a lot to give, including his smile. He loved watching the Red Sox and Celtics, he enjoyed social gatherings and will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Dominic was predeceased by both sets of grandparents, Archie & Leona LaCoote and Elizabeth & Arthur Sopeil; his brother, Dean LaCoote and sister Geneva LaCoote.
Survivors include his siblings, Liz LaCoote and her companion, Ed Paye of Bangor, Larry LaCoote of WV, Maria Nicholas and her husband Leslie of Indian Township and Lil Sockabasin of Indian Township; many nieces and nephews, including special nieces, Diora Sockabasin, Nancy LaCoote, Lacey Sockabasin, Maria Sockabasin, and Ellie Sockabasin; nephews, Dylan LaCoote, Dusty LaCoote, Corey LaCoote, Lance Sockabasin, and Clint Sabattis; cousins Anne Sopiel and Zelda LaCoote; uncle Dike Sopiel; and many close friends, including Ron Paul and Irving Dana who were more like brothers.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm, Wednesday, October 13th until 10:00 am, Friday, October 15th at St. Anne’s Parish Hall, Peter Dana Point. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, Friday October 15th at St. Anne’s Church, Peter Dana Point, committal will follow at Indian Township Tribal Cemetery.
