Baileyville – Doris E. Perkins, 94, died Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at home surrounded by her family. Doris was born in Crawford to Ernest and Gertrude (Roberts) Seavey on April 23, 1915. Doris married the love of her life, Ira Hilton Perkins with whom she lived and raised her family with in Baileyville. She had many enjoyments in life, knitting, sewing, crocheting, fishing and gardening to name a few but the fondest of her memories were those spent with her family. Doris was the first woman to swim across Crawford Lake, swimming from Baptism Landing to John’s Point. She was proud of her part in a 5 generations photograph and would have wanted it noted that amongst her and her siblings were 3 sets of twins. Doris was a member of the Alexander Grange # 304 and she worked as a certified nurse’s assistant for many years. In addition to her parents and husband, Doris was predeceased by 2 sons, Hilton and John Perkins; 2 brothers and 8 sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Celia Caruso of Baileyville; 2 sisters, Helen Sinko of Bethlehem, PA and Eleanor Jean Bonner and her husband Bob of Gagetown, New Brunswick; 3 brothers, Orris Seavey who Doris was very proud to say was her twin and his wife Glennis of South Princeton, Neil Seavey and his wife Shirley of Crawford and Howard Pike Seavey and his wife Maxine of Alexander; fourteen grandchildren; many great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Doris’s name to the Alexander Grange, Cooper Rd., Alexander, ME 04694 or Ronald McDonald House, 654 State St., Bangor, ME 04401.
