Calais – Dorothy May “Dot” Bohanon, 80, passed away August 21, 2015 at Calais Regional Hospital. Dot was born in Cooper on February 26, 1935, daughter of the late Harold and Mildred (Morrison) Vining. She graduated from Calais Memorial High School, Class of 1953, and shortly after on September 2nd, 1953, married Norman Bohanon. Dot worked as a stitcher for Wareknitters, Hathaways, and Dexter Shoes. She enjoyed reading westerns, puzzles, playing bingo, fishing, snowmobiling, and spending time at the family camp on Nash’s Lake. Dot was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #3 in Calais.
In addition to her parents, Dot was predeceased by her husband Norman; and a brother Maurice. Surviving are her two children, Neal Bohanon and wife Darlene of Baring, and Lois Niles and husband Kenny of Calais; grandsons, Kenny, Chris, Neal, and Nick; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Morgan, Jazzie, Xavier, Ryleigh, Mia, Brandon, Blake, and Ryan; her sister Shirley Swanson of CT; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of Dot’s life will be held 2 p.m. Monday, August 24, 2015 at Calais Cemetery. Donations in Dot’s memory may be made to PAWS Bravehearts, 368 South St., Calais, ME 04619. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
