Perry – Dorothy Mae Poole, 76, passed away in Calais on November 17, 2020. Dot was born on December 7, 1943 to Howard and Evangeline (Johnson) Lincoln. She spent much of her childhood in Perry however her family lived for a short time in New Hampshire where she attended Spalding High School. Dot was a very hard worker, she spent many years working in Eastport at Cape Cod Tuna, Holmes Packing and the Woolen Mill. She was responsible and attentive, spending the early part of her adult life caring for her parents, contributing to her family both financially and otherwise. As soon as she was able, Dot bought her first car and was proud of each one that she owned over the years. Taking rides with the family was a regular occurrence that Dot loved to be a part of.
Later in life, Dot owned and operated Dot’s take out on the Shore Road near her home and 25 years later she had Dot’s redemption center for 20 years until her retirement but in the off season she would stay busy tipping and making wreaths. She wasn’t the type of girl to worry about fashion or make-up, she was more concerned with caring for the people around her. Dot loved to play cards and travel with her sister and niece to Connecticut where they would visit the casinos. Dot and her sister, Audrey were inseparable, they were truly best friends. She also enjoyed going for meals at the senior center in Eastport and spending time with her many friends.
In addition to her parents, Dot was predeceased by her husband, Robert Poole and her sister, Audrey Sears and her husband, Larry.
Survivors include her sister, Pat Young and her husband Hank of Eastport; nieces, Shirley Hill, who was more like a daughter, and her husband Ron of Alexander and Jennifer Young and her partner Matt Roy of Charleston; great niece and nephew, Lisa Emerson and her husband Todd of Columbia Falls and Gary Hill and his wife Jen of Winterport , her faithful canine side kick Jodie Lynn, Patty Wentworth, her nurse, who went above and beyond and neighbors and friends Marie McPhail who was as close as a sister to her and Mike Baine who was wonderful and kind to Dot and Bob and her parents.
Visitation will be held from 2 – 4 pm on Friday, November 20th at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. Visitors are asked to wear a mask and practice social distancing. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am., Saturday, November 21st at Johnson Family Cemetery on the Gin Cove Rd., Perry where Dot will be interred next to her sister. Tessa Ftorek will officiate.
