Obituary for Dorothy Prudence Priest

Pembroke – Dorothy P. Priest, wife of Percy E. Priest, passed away peacefully with her family at her bedside on August 17, 2011. Dorothy and Percy were married on April 6, 1946. She was born in Milford on October 1, 1925, the daughter of the late George and Mattie Seymour. Dottie worked for many years as a teacher’s aide in the area schools before her retirement. She enjoyed making her house a home for her family and the kids in town and caring for her cat, Tiggey. Dottie was a wonderful wife and mother, sister and friend. She enjoyed and was very proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will always be loved and missed. In addition to her parents, Dottie was predeceased by a brother, Edward Seymour. Dottie leaves her husband of 65 years, Percy “Bud” Priest; their children and families, Valerie Patch and her husband Richard of Bangor, Brian Priest and his wife Lisa of Pembroke, and Rhonda Foss and her fiancé Travis Stevens of Pembroke. She also leaves her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Ryan Priest and his wife Sabrina, and their children Eric, Kodie and Bree-Anna, Lisa Leighton and her husband Chris and their children Kelly and Wyatt, Jennifer Doyle and her husband Larry and their children Jacob and Logan, Nicole Armstrong and her husband Anson and their daughter Madison, Adam Fenderson, Angela Francis; and Brenda Francis and her children Jordan and Katana. Dottie also leaves her sister, Louise Johnston of Milford; sisters-in-law Gail St. Louis of Old Town and Zelda McGowan of Washington; a brother-in-law Francis Priest of Florida; as well as many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, August 22, 2011 at Clarkside Cemetery on Clarkside Rd. in Pembroke. Family and friends are invited to gather at 14 Young’s Cove Road in Pembroke after the service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dottie’s memory may be made to a food pantry of one’s choice.
